Come and see our Greener garden ‘pop up’ window display in Bath

Take a look at our ‘greener garden’ pop-up window display at 9 Westgate Street, Bath, until Monday May 11. View practical ideas to make your garden more sustainable with compost bins, water butts and ideas for re-using everyday containers for growing plants.

During International Compost Awareness Week (May 4 – 10), Bath & North East Somerset Council is also holding a series of events to encourage residents to make their gardens more environmentally–friendly.

Composting roadshows where you can view composting bins and get tips and advice on home composting from the Council’s Waste Campaigns team will take place as follows:

  • Friday May 8, Green Park Station, Bath - 11-3pm
  • Saturday May 9, Keynsham Farmers' Market, Market Walk, 9am-1pm
  • Friday May 15, Morrisons, London Rd, Bath, 11am - 2.30pm
  • Friday May 29, Sainsbury’s, Odd Down, Bath, 11am - 2.30pm

Home composting is a great way to reduce the amount of organic kitchen waste that goes into your household rubbish bin or food recycling collection. More than 30% of the average household waste can be composted and although many households already compost at home, the Council wants others to get involved.

Through a partnership with getcomposting.com, the Council is also giving residents the chance to buy discounted compost bins from £17.98 and water butts from £24.98. For full details or to order visit www.getcomposting.com or call 0844 571 4444.
