Gull proof black sack trial set for start

A one thousand home trial by Bath & North East Somerset Council of reusable rubbish sacks that it is believed could be impregnable to urban gulls and animals will start on Thursday 20th September 2012.

The two month trial is intended to see whether the bags are successful in stopping scavengers and inform the Council whether a wider, permanent scheme would result in reducing the mess caused by birds and animals when the scavenge for food in normal rubbish…

Are you an energy saving champion?

A new scheme to help communities save energy and reduce carbon emissions has been launched by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The Local Energy Champions Award will provide one award of £400 every three months for a community group to use on activities that will benefit the local community and reduce carbon emissions. Groups can apply by filling in an application form, and a different group will receive the award every quarter.

Bath Recycling Centre - temporary closure October - November

The Council needs to close Bath Recycling Centre for essential repair works for approximately 8 weeks during October and November. We will confirm the exact dates as soon as we can in the next few weeks and publicise these. The works will be completed as quickly as possible and the site reopened as soon as it can.

Whilst the repair works are being carried out we have made contingency plans to minimise any disruption to our waste collection service.
